Component 1 - Exploring Music Products and Styles
Each Genre Lesson Presentation Pack contains between 18 and 21 fully editable lesson presentations, designed to guide students systematically through the musical style while building the analytical skills required for Component 1.
Lessons develop students’ ability to Identify, Recognise, Describe and Evaluate key musical features, with structured listening activities, clear explanations, practical tasks and model sentence examples to help students communicate their understanding effectively.
The presentations are designed to be used as a complete teaching sequence, while still giving teachers the flexibility to adapt individual lessons to suit their own timetable, class ability and curriculum approach.
Thinking Hard Packs
The Thinking Hard Activity Pack encourages deeper learning by challenging students to think critically rather than simply recall information. Using four strategies, Reduce, Transform, Deconstruct and Derive, students develop their ability to analyse musical features, make connections and demonstrate understanding. Each genre pack contains 18–21 activities, ideal for starters, consolidation, independent learning and revision. Every activity is supplied as an editable Word document, a printable PDF and a classroom presentation, giving teachers maximum flexibility.
