Component 1 - Schemes of Work
The Schemes of Work Pack contains two complementary PDFs designed to support effective planning and flexible delivery of Component 1. The Detailed Scheme of Work provides a comprehensive lesson-by-lesson teaching sequence, outlining learning objectives, activities and content. The Adaptive Scheme of Work focuses on the sequencing and progression of topics, allowing teachers to tailor their lessons to suit different timetables, teaching approaches and student needs. Together, they provide a clear structure while allowing teachers the flexibility to deliver the course in their own way.
Glossaries and guide
The Teacher’s Glossary and Analytical Guide is a comprehensive reference resource covering the musical terminology, concepts and analytical language used throughout the BTEC Music Practice course. Alongside clear definitions and explanations, it provides practical teaching guidance, suggestions for developing musical understanding and advice on addressing common misconceptions. Designed as an accessible, reliable reference, it supports teachers in delivering accurate, consistent and confident music education.
The Student Glossary Pack contains four accessible reference guides designed to help students develop their musical vocabulary and understanding. Three glossaries cover the terminology relevant to Components 1, 2 and 3, while a separate Music Theory Glossary supports broader musical knowledge. Each guide presents clear, student-friendly definitions in manageable sections, encouraging independent learning, accurate use of terminology and effective revision throughout the course.
